Purpose: This research aimed at examining the existing literature of interdisciplinary studies to determine the status of knowledge and information Science (KIS) as a discipline or interdisciplinary field. It was also conducted to answer the question whether it would be possible to view KIS as an interdisciplinary field of scientific research before being accepted as a scientific field
Methodology: This was a library research conducted through analyzing the experts’ view and reviewing the literature in the field of interdisciplinary studies.
Findings: Seven major types of interdisciplinary studies were identified including: intradisciplinarity, cross disciplinarity, interdisciplinarity, multidisciplinarity, pluridisciplinarity, transdisciplinarity, post-disciplinarity. Among them, only cross disciplinarity and interdisciplinary would lead to the birth of a new scientific discipline but KIS was not the result of any of them.
Conclusion: In terms of topics and issues, KIS could be distinguished as a discipline from other fields of science because its subject is only the recorded information. But due to the complexity of the concept of information, researchers in this field have moved on to interdisciplinary studies that could not be considered as a weak point for this discipline but also it would lead to the growth and development of this filed.

Methodology:This was an applied research carried out through descriptive survey. A self-developed checklist was used to gather the needed data. The sample population of this research consisted of three categories: 1. Parsijoo, Yooz, Google and Yahoo search engines; 2. five keywords searched in these search engines; 3. the first ten hits retrieved by the search engines. 14 experts in Islamic fields were hired to evaluate the content quality of retrieved web pages.
Findings: Results showed that there was no significant difference between search engines regarding the four criteria except for the links in which Google was ranked higher than others. Also, there was no significant difference between the four search engines for each of the general and specialized statements. Among the specialized statements, there was a significant difference only in eight statements of two criteria of “links” and “bios”. According to the mean values of the ranks, the priority of search engines was as follows: Google, Yooz, Parsijoo and Yahoo. Another finding of the study showed that there was a significant difference between the general and specialized statements in each search engine regarding the content quality of retrieved web pages. Also, there was no significant difference between search engines to the extent of the content quality of web pages.
Conclusion: In order to develop the ideal search engine in Persian with an emphasis on Iranian- Islamic identity, the government investments as well as cooperation among interested organizations are essential.

The data gathering tool was a researcher-made questionnaire whose reliability was confirmed by Cronbach's alpha and its validity was confirmed through content validity. The statistical population of the study consisted of 208 archivists working in I.R.I.B that 100 of them were selected through systematic random sampling method.
Findings: Findings showed that the highest effect belonged to the factors of: the managers’ decision making on the right conservation of resources of technology application (among the managerial factors), the instruction on the development of the culture of using technology (among the cultural factors), the effective use of information technology in cutting off specialists’ mistakes (among the human factors), the budget allocation for buying software (among the economic factors), and the searching software in the archive (among the technical factors). Also, the respondents considered the effectiveness of 70% for managerial factors, 50% for the cultural factors, 66% for human factors, 80% for economic factors and 80% for technical factors.
Conclusion: From the archivists’ point of view, the proper use of IT would be effective in improvement, utilization, increase of practical outcomes, ability to provide services, speeding up of services, and cutting of mistakes. So it would be useful for I.R.I.B. to promote the quality and stop the weaknesses.
